Got questions? We’ve got answers. Here are some of the most common questions we receive about PPCOC and our mission.
We are Pak Pioneers Community Organization of Canada, a not-for-profit seniors group based in Mississauga. Our mission is to bring people together, especially seniors and youth, to learn, connect, and celebrate culture through social, educational, and recreational programs.
Our mission is to build a caring and inclusive community where everyone, especially South Asian seniors, can live with dignity and stay active through meaningful programs and connections.
We proudly serve people of all backgrounds, with a special focus on South Asian seniors. We also support youth, families, and newcomers who want to contribute to their community and strengthen cultural connections.
We organize a wide range of programs and activities that bring our community together, including: • Senior Pioneers Club – weekly meet-ups, workshops, games, and wellness activities for seniors • Young Pioneers Club – youth-focused programs that promote leadership, volunteering, and intergenerational learning • Women Empowerment Meetings – discussions and workshops to support women's growth, confidence, and leadership • Art and Literacy Circle Meetings – creative gatherings that encourage expression, storytelling, and lifelong learning • Community Workshops and Seminars – educational sessions on health, safety, technology, and community awareness • Family Events and Picnics – fun gatherings that strengthen family bonds and community spirit • Musical Events – including our popular Family Fungama Night filled with entertainment and cultural performances • Trips to Various Places – We have taken our seniors to Ottawa, Niagara Falls, Hamilton, Brantford, and so many other places, and have many planned for the future! • Many more seasonal and community-led activities throughout the year
One of our long-term goals is to establish a South Asian Retirement Home in Canada. It will be a place where seniors can live comfortably while staying connected to their language, culture, and traditions. This project aims to create a warm and culturally familiar environment where South Asian seniors can age with dignity, companionship, and community support.
Seniors who join PPCOC find a welcoming community where they can socialize, stay active, make friends, and enjoy a sense of belonging. Our activities help reduce loneliness, promote wellness, and celebrate culture in a friendly, respectful environment.
Youth can join the Young Pioneers Club to volunteer, learn leadership skills, and connect with seniors through mentorship and storytelling. We also offer opportunities to work on creative projects, podcasts, and community initiatives.
We are based in Mississauga, Ontario, and our members come from across the Greater Toronto Area. Our gatherings are usually held in community centres and event halls where everyone feels at home.
